Stainless steel appliances are a beautiful addition to any kitchen. Of course, nothing comes complete in this world and this is no exception. These appliances are very difficult to keep clean especially if you have small children. We have been maintaining stainless steel ever since they became popular over ten years ago. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way on what not use!
My recommendation is to use only the products made especially for stainless steel. They come in cream and spray forms. I have found that the sprays are better than the creams. My personal favorite is made by Sheila Shines and can be found at any Ace Hardware Store. It is pricey but like anything else, you get what you pay for.
Never use traditional household cleaners such as Windex, Fantastic or 409. I have seen many appliances ruined by people using one of these products. Ignorance is expensive. If you don’t have the special cleaner available then you can use a lightly damp cloth to remove fingerprints. Quickly dry it though. You may notice some “water lines” running down from the in-door ice dispenser. That’s what water can do to the finish on these appliances.
